An Experiment

From time to time I hope to be able to post English songs on this site along with the lyrics and some information about the artist. I'm not sure yet whether this will be possible but its worth a try.

As an experiement, I am posting a song by the English group Splinter. Splinter was a group formed in 1974 and played bright sunny pop music very much in the Beatles mode. They disbanded in 1984. The song I am (trying) to post today is off their first album and was produced by George Harrison of the Beatles in 1974. Hope you enjoy it!

Costafine Town

Splinter
Costafine Town

Dirty old hole in the side of the road
For the man who cleans the streets
Opened up doors where the working class goes at night
Written on walls where the cats have a crawl
For the grass along the top
Man I was born there, I'm gonna walk right back

Costafine town, it's a fine town
I'm coming home
I feel so lonely, I been too long away
Costafine town, it's a fine town
I'm coming home
I wish I'd never made up my mind to stray

Nobody owns all the dirty old clothes
That are lying in the lane
Whistling loud before their shift has gone
Little old man with the pole in his hand
Lighting lamps along the way
Hurry me back there, I wish I'd never gone

Costafine town, it's a fine town
I'm coming home
I feel so lonely, I been too long away
Costafine town, it's a fine town
I'm coming home
I wish I'd never made up my mind to stray ....
