Final Exam: Questions & Answers
Please find below the questions and answers for the final exam. Sorry for the delay in putting them up. When I get home I realised that I could not put up the original file containing the copy of the exam as it needed a special program to open and have had to wait until I could scan the paper and answers.
As I mentioned in class, while there were three different versions of the exam, the questions were the same. The version I am giving you is the one for class 1. Classes 2 & 3 will see an exam with a slightly different order than the one they did on Friday.
Hope all goes well with your exams this week. If you have any questions just phone, send and email or come and see me in my quarters in the International Village Building B, Room 5-101.

Song of the Week: Malvina Reynold: Little Boxes
Little Boxes, is a song written by American folk singer Malvina Reynolds in 1962 that, as the cititaion in Wikipedia noes: “… lampoons the development of suburbia and what many consider its bourgeois conformist values”. The song’s best-known version of the song is the one by Pete Seeger and the song is thought to have been “inspired” by Daly City in California. More recently, the song has been featured in the television comedy series Weeds. Song of the Week: Joe South / Inner Circle: Games People Play
This week's song of the week is Games People Play - a song written by singer Joe South. Besides South's recordings, other artists have also recorded the song, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Tesla (on their album Bust a Nut), The Georgia Satellites (on their album In the Land of Salvation and Sin) and Bill Haley & His Comets. In Singapore around 1969, an instrumental version showed up on a single by The White Crane Orchestra. The reggae band Inner Circle also released a cover version, which was quite popular in Europe for a while in the mid-90s. In 2006, it was covered by Jools Holland on his album Moving Out to the Country with guest vocalist Marc Almond [Wikipedia]

CD of the Week: Bo_ Bice: See_the_Light
This week's CD of the Week comes from Harold Elwin "Bo"_Bice, Jr. (born November 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama. Bo_Bice [as he is more commonly know] was the runner up to is an American singer and Carrie Underwood in the fourth season of American Idol.
Although a little mainstream fo my tastes, Bo_Bice is nonethless perms a fairly good contemporary example of what is commonly known as 'Southern Rock' - a type of rock that emerged in the southern states of the U.S. in the early 1970's. His second CD is entitled "See_the_Light" and it will be released in November.

Song of the Week: Kermit: [Its Not Easy] Being Green
This weeks song is "Bein' Green“, a popular song originally written by Joe Raposo in 1970 for the children's show Sesame Street where it was performed by Kermit the Frog . As the Wikipedia post on the song notes, "'It's not easy being green' is a phrase that appears in pop culture as an expression of melancholy. In the song, Kermit begins by lamenting his green coloration, expressing that green 'blends in with so many ordinary things.'"
